
Nolan Brannon joins Kernels from Orem

July 27, 2009 - The Cedar Rapids Kernels and Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim announce that catcher Nolan Brannon has been assigned to the Kernels from the Orem Owlz of the Pioneer League. Abe Flores, Director of Player Development for the LA Angels, announced the move on Monday.
The Angels signed Brannon, 24, as a non-drafted free agent on July 15, 2008 out of the University of Tampa. He played three games with the AZL Angels in 2008, batting .250 with a double and 2 RBI and has played five games at Orem this year.
To make room on the Kernels active roster, INF Kevin Ramos has been assigned to Orem.
Brannon will be in Cedar Rapids and available for tonight's 6:35 pm game against South Bend. With today's transactions, the Kernels roster is at the MWL maximum of 25 active players, with four players currently on the DL.
The playoff-bound Kernels continue a six game home stand against South Bend at Perfect Game Field at Veterans Memorial Stadium tonight at 6:35 pm with the gates opening at 5:30 pm.
