Chiefs sweep Timber Rattlers 2-1 Monday

Peoria, IL - Behind a complete game from pitcher Austin Bibens-Dirkx, the Peoria Chiefs swept the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers 2-1 Monday night at O'Brien Field. Rebel Ridling complemented the outing with a four-hit game and his 12th homer of the season. Peoria is now 15-15 in the second half and 53-46 overall. The Chiefs got on the board early against Wisconsin starter Daniel Meadows. With one down, Ryan Flaherty hit a towering shot over the right-field wall for his 14th home run of the season on his 23rd birthday to give the Chiefs a 1-0 lead. Wisconsin answered back against Bibens-Dirkx in the fourth. With two outs in the inning, Erik Komatsu hit a home run over the right-field wall to tie the game 1-1. Peoria took their second lead of the game in the sixth inning against Meadows. Ridling led off the inning and hit a towering fly ball down the left-field line count for his 12th home run of the season to give the Chiefs a 2-1 advantage. It was a pitcher's dual through the entire game with Bibens-Dirkx coming out on top. He gave up his fifth hit of the game in the ninth inning with one out, but got Corey Kemp to ground into a double-play to end the game. Bibens-Dirkx (2-1) threw the Chiefs first nine-inning complete game of the season with 63 strikes on 90 pitches. He gave up only one run on five hits while striking out seven in his second win of the season. Meadows also threw a complete game for Wisconsin going eight innings while allowing two runs on 12 hits.

Casey's General Store Co-Players of the Game - Austin Bibens-Dirkx (P) & Rebel Ridling (1B) - Bibens-Dirkx threw a complete game for the first time in his career in his second win of the season not walking a batter and striking out seven. Ridling was 4-for-4 on the night including his 12th home run of the season along with his 67th RBI.
