No. 5 Vipers to Play No. 6 Santa Cruz Warriors in Round Two of NBA D-League Playoffs

MCALLEN, Texas, TIME @ "MMMM d, yyyy" April 15, 2014 - The No. 5 Rio Grande Valley Vipers (30-20, 2-1) are set to play the No. 6 Santa Cruz Warriors (29-21, 2-0) in the second round of the 2014 NBA Development League Playoffs. The Vipers topped the No. 3 Iowa Energy 131-126 Tuesday night in Des Moines, Iowa to win the Round 1 best-of-three series 2-1.
The series between the Vipers and Warriors will tipoff with game one Thursday, April 17 on the road at Santa Cruz. Tipoff is set for 8:30 p.m. (CT). The series moves back to the Rio Grande Valley for games two and three. Game two is set for Saturday, April 19 at 7 p.m. (CT), and if necessary, game three is set for Monday, April 21 at 7p.m. (CT). Games two and three will take place at State Farm Arena.

The Vipers and Warriors met twice during the 2013-14 regular season and tied 1-1 for the season series. On Jan. 9 Santa Cruz topped RGV 127-115 at the NBA Development League Showcase. Then on Feb. 26, the Vipers beat the Warriors 138-124 at State Farm Arena. The Vipers are 2-3 over the past two regular seasons against the Warriors. RGV swept Santa Cruz 2-0 last season during the 2013 NBA Development League Finals to win the championship.

Dates and times for the best-of-three NBA D-League Finals, which will follow the same format as the second round, have yet to be determined and will be announced when they are available. A broadcast schedule for the second round is forthcoming.
