Hickory, NC - The Crawdads took game three against the Asheville Tourists 11-1 on Sunday afternoon.
Asheville took a 1-0 lead in the fourth inning but only held onto the lead for a half inning.
The 'Dads erupted for nine runs in the bottom half of the inning to pull ahead 9-1. Ryan Anderson drew a walk and moved to second on a single by Frainyer Chavez. Matt Whatley was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Jonathan Ornelas hit a sac fly to bring in the first run of the inning. Jose Almonte walked to once again load the bases. A wild pitch allowed the runners to advance two bases and brought in Chavez and Whatley to score. Kole Enright singled in Almonte and gave the 'Dads a three-run lead. Miguel Aparicio singled and Biggers walked to put three runners on. Anderson drove all three in with a double in his second at bat of the inning. Tyreque Reed hit the second consecutive double to score Anderson. Chavez capped off the inning with an RBI single that brought in Reed.
The Crawdads padded the lead with another run in the seventh inning. Melvin Novoa and Ornelas singled to lead off the inning. Enright hit a sacrifice fly to center to bring in Novoa.
Tyreque Reed's homerun in the eighth inning gave the Crawdads an 11-1 lead.
The homestand wraps up tomorrow night with Make A Difference Monday presented by Catawba Shoe Store. Fans who donate new baby items (at least a $5 value) for March of Dimes can get a free ticket to the game, which will get underway at 7pm.
