Indianapolis Indians News Release

INDIANAPOLIS - The nine millionth fan to attend an Indians game at Victory Field is expected to arrive at the 15-year old ballpark this weekend as the Tribe face the division rival Louisville Bats in a two-game series. The Indians currently stand just 12,149 fans away from reaching the historic milestone.

Based on advance ticket sales, the nine million fan threshold should be surpassed this Saturday night or Sunday afternoon, just days before the 15-year anniversary of the first game at the downtown ballpark that has been called the "Best Minor League Ballpark in America."

Once the milestone is achieved, one lucky fan will be recognized as the "Nine Millionth Fan" and will receive a seat upgrade to the new Captain Morgan Cove premium seating area, a customized Indians jersey and the opportunity to ring the new Max Schumacher Victory Bell following the game.

Since Victory Field opened on July 11, 1996, a total of 8,987,851 fans have attended 1,059 Indians games at the downtown ballpark for an average of 8,487 fans per game.

Over the past 15 home games this season the Indians have averaged 10,259 fans per game, including two sellouts in as many weeks. This week's July 4th sellout marked the 44th in Victory Field history.

The Indians 2011 season attendance continues to track ahead of last year's pace. Through 43 home dates played this season the Indians have drawn a total of 326,249 fans compared to 323,214 through the same number of dates last season.

This weekend's games represent the last two opportunities for fans to attend a game at Victory Field before the International League All-Star Break next week. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. on Saturday and 2:05 p.m. on Sunday. Tickets are on sale now at www.IndyIndians.com and at the Victory Field Box Office.
