
Nicole Momiki Named to Japan WNT for Olympic Games in Tokyo

TACOMA, WA -OL Reign forward Nicole Momiki has been named to the Japan Women's National Football Team's 18-player roster for the Olympic Games in Tokyo.
The 25-year-old had a strong showing last week over the June FIFA international match window when Japan took on Ukraine and Mexico. Momiki played and scored a goal in each game, continuing the trend of scoring a goal each game she has played for Japan this year. She has made a total of 35 appearances and scored 14 goals for Japan.
Japan will be competing in Group E in the group stage of the Olympic Games, along with Canada, Great Britain, and Chile. No. 11 ranked Japan plays the first of three group stage matches on Monday, July 21 at 3:30 a.m. PT against No. 8 ranked Canada at Sapporo Dome in Sapporo, Japan. The two teams last met in a friendly match in October 2019, where Japan came away with a 4-0 victory. Japan's second game is against Great Britain on Thursday, July 24 at 3:30 a.m. PT at Sapporo Dome in Sapporo, Japan. Japan will then face off against No. 37 ranked Chile to conclude their group stage action on Sunday, July 27 at 4:00 a.m. PT at Miyagi Stadium in Rifu, Japan.
