South Bend Silver Hawks News Release
South Bend, IN â The South Bend Silver Hawks, who have lost five-of its last-seven games, received bad news off the field. Cesar Nicolas, who was in the throws of a seven game hitting streak, was placed on the disabled list retroactive to April 22nd, with a broken left hand.
Nicolas raised his average over his seven game hitting streak from .219 to .288 and collected five RBI. Nicolas heads to the DL leading the team in home runs (4) and RBI (12).
Javier Brito comes to the Silver Hawks coming off a stellar 2004 campaign in Missoula. Brito, a native Venezuelan, hit .310 with 8 home runs and 44 RBI. Brito was signed by the Diamondbacks as a non-drafted free agent in April of 2002.
The Silver Hawks return home Thursday, April 28th when they open an eight game homestand with the Wisconsin Timberrattlers. Game time is slated for 6:30 PM, with the gates opening at 5:30 PM. Thursday's are Ultra Thursday's with WB 25 & 103.9 The Bear, featuring a special edition of Launch-a-Ball, where fans could win $1,000!
