
Nichols Returns to WhiteWings

HARLINGEN - United League Baseball's Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings announced today that they signed first baseman Brian Nichols (6-4, 250, Alabama State University), who previously played for the team during parts of the last three seasons and was recently released by the Shreveport-Bossier Captains (American Association).
In seven games with the Captains, Nichols was 7-for-28 (.250) with three doubles and two RBI. Nichols started the season with the Coastal Bend Thunder, hitting .353 with 17 home runs and 56 RBI.
Nichols was signed by the Laredo Broncos out of the Texas Winter League in 2007. After going 15-for-76 (.197), Nichols was released and signed by the WhiteWings, for whom he hit .328 with six doubles, five triples, six home runs and 34 RBI in 51 games.
Nichols started the 2008 season with the WhiteWings, hitting .291 with nine doubles, six triples, nine home runs and 46 RBI in 65 games before joining the Alexandria Aces for their playoff run, for whom he hit .385 (20-for-52) with four home runs and 11 RBI in 13 games.
Nichols began the 2009 season with the San Angelo Colts, going 10-for-30 in eight games before getting traded to the WhiteWings, for whom he hit .346 with 10 home runs and 49 RBI in 64 games.
