Canseco Having Too Much Fun: Postpones Movie Shoot to Keep Playing Baseball in Harlingen

HARLINGEN - United League Baseball's Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings announced today that Laredo Broncos designated hitter, former American League MVP, American League Rookie of the Year, six-time All-Star, four-time Silver Slugger and two-time World Series Champion Jose Canseco will remain with the Broncos to face the WhiteWings on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday at Harlingen Field.

Canseco was originally scheduled to leave after Tuesday's game for a movie shoot, before rejoining the Broncos on Saturday in Laredo, but decided to stay with the team in Harlingen because he is having too much fun playing baseball.

Tickets range from $4-to-$8 and can be purchased online at whitewingsbaseball.com, by calling the WhiteWings at 423-WING (9464) or at the Harlingen Field box office daily starting at 10:00 a.m.

All three games start at 7:05 p.m. and gates open at 6:05.

CPL Retail Energy is holding Customer Appreciation Night on Wednesday. Any fans purchasing their tickets for that game at the WhiteWings box office who say they were sent by "CPL Retail Energy, a Direct Energy Company," will receive two free tickets to the game, courtesy of CPL Energy.

Thursday is Thirsty Thursday presented by Local's Lounge, Fox 2 Cable 6 and Q 94.5 The Rock Station. Fans can get $1 draft beers and cans of sodas as well as $2 bottles of both beer and soda. The WhiteWings will auction off their game-worn alternate jerseys after the game will all proceeds going to charity.

Friday is Fan Fly-Away Friday, presented by Allegiant Air, Univision, Que Pasa and Jose 101. Fans will have a chance to win two free round trip tickets on Allegiant Air. It's also Fan Appreciation Night. Fans will receive surprise giveaways as they enter Harlingen Field.

In a 17-year Major League career, Canseco hit .266 with 462 home runs and 1,407 RBI. Since joining the Broncos, Canseco is hitting .370 (10-for-27) with four home runs and 13 RBI in seven games.
