NHL Alums in Oiler American Airlines Game

Hopkins Hotties are back.

The largest fan club for players in the Tulsa Oilers American Airlines Alumni Game will return for a third season to the Oilers Ice Center on Saturday August 28 at 7 p.m.

Hopkins Hotties are the cheering section for former National Hockey League player and former Oiler Larry Hopkins, who will be playing in his third alumni game.

"They are regrouping and they are ready to be come back," Hopkins said of his boisterous backers. "That's been a lot of fun. It's just good to get back playing hockey in from of the fans and some of them were watching the Oilers back in the 70's and 80's."

Hopkins played in 60 NHL games with the Toronto Maple Leafs and Winnipeg Jets. Other former NHL players expected to appear at the American Airlines Alumni Game include Garry Unger, Don MacIver, Mike Berger and current Oiler general manager Taylor Hall.

Hopkins praised the Oilers for developing the alumni event, which began in 2008.

"It's like a brotherhood, no matter age or generation you played in," he said. "It's been great to getting some of the guys from the 90s and later and especially guys from that championship team (1992-93)."

Along with the former NHL players, other former Oilers expected to participate in the game include Craig Lochhead, Doug Pirnak, Troy Caley, Craig Hamelin, and Chris Dashney.

Tickets for the alumni game will be $10 for all general admission seats. Oiler season ticket holders will be admitted early to the Oilers Ice Center, for preferred choice of seats.

The Oilers had the second highest point total increase in the CHL last season under head coach Bruce Ramsay, who was in his first season with the Oilers. They will have 33 home games at the BOK Center in the 2010-11 season, starting on Friday October 15th against the Wichita Thunder Season tickets for 2010-11 with plans for as low as $26 a month are now available by calling the Oilers office at 918-632-PUCK (7825).
