Raiders Lose Two More To Injury
Miller, Warkentine both likely out for the rest of the season
Prince Albert, SK - The Prince Albert Raiders lost two more players for lengthy periods of time.
Drew Warkentine will be out of the lineup indefinitely with a lower-body injury, which will likely keep him out for the remainder of the season. On Friday, Carson Miller underwent successful shoulder surgery and will be lost for the rest of the year. Both players are expected to be healthy for the start of training camp in August.
Warkentine, who hails from Prince Albert, suffered the lower-body injury during Wednesday night's 3-2 loss to the Medicine Hat Tigers, leaving the game midway through the second period. The 1998-born forward has dressed in 32 games this season, scoring twice and adding four assists. He has been limited this season due to injury, recently returning from an upper body injury.
Miller's injury puts an early end to his rookie season in the WHL. The Yorkton product, who turned 17 years old today, had seven goals and 12 assists in 46 games played. The 2015 WHL Bantam Draft first-round pick was adjusting well to the league, scoring five of his goals and picking up seven of his assists following the Christmas break.
The Raiders continue their three-game road trip tonight in Lethbridge against the Hurricanes. Puck drop is 8 p.m. The next Raiders' home game is on Wednesday, February 15 when they host the Brandon Wheat Kings at the Art Hauser Centre.
