GAME DAY PREVIEW: Pats Look to Keep Rolling in Edmonton Friday

The Regina Pats (36-6-6-1) carry a nine game winning streak into Friday night's game in Edmonton against the Oil Kings (18-32-3-1). Puck drop is at 8 p.m. Regina time at Rogers Place. The Pats kicked off their three game road trip on Wednesday in Calgary with a 4-0 victory. The Oil Kings hosted the Swift Current Broncos on Wednesday and lost 3-2, their 15th straight defeat. The Pats hold a 3-0-0-0 record against the Oil Kings heading into tonight's fourth and final meeting on the season between the two clubs, winning twice at home and once on the road. The game can be heard on 620 CKRM with Bennett Dunlop Ford Pats Hockey beginning at 7:35 p.m.

Lead Up: Steel, Hobbs and Brown Lead Pats to 9th Straight Win

Sam Steel and Connor Hobbs had four points apiece, Tyler Brown made 28 saves for the shutout and the Pats won their ninth straight game, 4-0 over the Calgary Hitmen on Wednesday night. Sam Steel got the scoring started with a highlight reel goal halfway through the first. Regina added two powerplay goals late in the frame and led 3-0. It stayed that way until the third when Connor Hobbs hammered home his 23rd of the season, also on the powerplay, to make it 4-0 and that was the final score. The Pats outshot the Hitmen 30-28 in the win, the powerplay was three for six and the penalty kill was a perfect six for six.

Head to Head

The Pats carry a 3-0-0-0 record against Edmonton into Saturday night's contest at the Brandt Centre. Regina won 6-3 on home ice on September 30 and again on November 16, 4-2 at Rogers Place in Edmonton and then 7-1 on February 4 at the Brandt Centre. The Pats have 17 goals to the Oil Kings six in the season series so far. The Pats have outshot Edmonton 122-72 in the three games while the powerplay went six for 13 and the penalty kill seven for nine. Sam Steel and Nick Henry lead Regina with six points each in the three games. Dawson Leedahl is next with five and four others have three points. Goaltender Jordan Hollett has started the first three meetings, going 3-0-0-0 with a 2.00 goals against average and a .917 save percentage. The Oil Kings are led by Tyler Robertson who has three assists in the three games. The Pats currently lead the Eastern Conference with 83 points in 51 games while the Oil Kings are in 10th with 40 points.

The Regina Pats boast three top 20 scorers in the WHL including the top two in Sam Steel with 96 points and Adam Brooks with 90. Dawson Leedahl is tied for 11th with 68 points. Four Pats are in the top 20 in defence scoring, Connor Hobbs leads the way with 61 points, Josh Mahura is 12th with 42, Chase Harrison tied 14th with 40 points and Sergey Zborovskiy is 19th with 34. Nick Henry is second amongst all rookies with 61 points while Filip Ahl is seventh with 38. Finally goaltender Tyler Brown owns the sixth best G.A.A. in the league at 2.74, the eighth best save percentage at 0.910 and is tied for third with three shutouts. The club leads the league with 270 goals in 51 games. An average of 5.4 goals for per-game.
