New York Red Bulls II News Release

HARRISON, N.J. - New York Red Bulls II defeated the Pittsburgh Riverhounds, 1-0, on Saturday night at Red Bull Arena. Junior Flemmings scored the lone goal in the game, his second-consecutive game winner for New York.

The win improves Red Bulls II to 6-1-3 on the season with 21 points. The club stands alone in second place of the Eastern Conference.

The clean sheet marked the sixth in 10 games for Red Bulls II.

Flemmings opened the scoring for New York in the 8th minute after receiving a pass from forward Brandon Allen. Allen turned a defender from about 35-yards out and played a ball into the feet of Flemmings. The forward took his first touch away form the defender and slotted the ball with his left foot into the bottom corner. The goal was the Jamaican's third of the season.

Defender Justin Bilyeu nearly doubled the lead when he struck a powerful free kick in the 12th minute from 25-yards out, only to be denied by the crossbar.

Just as the second half kicked off, goalkeeper Ryan Meara saved a Pittsburgh breakaway as Hertzog was played in. Meara made an immediate second save from close range. The goalkeeper finished with three saves in the match, and earned his fourth shutout of the season.

Red Bulls II will be back in action on Sunday, June 5 at 4 p.m. on the road against Bethlehem Steel FC. NYRB II returns home the following week to host Harrisburg City Islanders on Thursday, June 9 at 7 p.m.
