New York Red Bulls News Release

HARRISON, N.J. (September 25, 2015) -The New York Red Bulls announced today a partnership with Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU) to expand educational opportunities for players, students, and the greater New York-New Jersey community.

The partnership will allow Red Bull players to pursue their education, while continuing their careers as professional soccer players and SNHU students will have access to internship opportunities with the Red Bulls. Both organizations are committed to creating programs to increase educational opportunities in the community, including a scholarship from SNHU to a deserving community member as part of the "20 for 20 Mini-pitch Initiative" through MLS WORKS and the U.S. Soccer Foundation.

As part of the larger partnership with Major League Soccer and the Kicks for Kids program, SNHU will send a group of students from the George Washington Carver School in Newark, NJ to an upcoming Red Bulls game. At select home games throughout the season, SNHU will host unique events to recognize members of the community including charitable organizations and the military.

"This partnership provides exciting opportunities for our students and opens the door to education for players who may have put that dream on hold to pursue careers as professional athletes", said Paul LeBlanc, president, Southern New Hampshire University. "Our work within the greater community demonstrates that higher education is possible and transformative."

As a private, nonprofit university with a commitment to student success, SNHU is an ideal partner for the New York Red Bulls and Major League Soccer. SNHU has more than 70,000 students nationwide and a 600-acre campus in Manchester, NH.

"We are thrilled to have Southern New Hampshire University on board as our Official Education Partner," said Marc de Grandpre, General Manager, New York Red Bulls. "As a proud alumnus of the school, I know it provides a first-class experience for students and that is the same experience we strive to deliver to our devoted fans in the community. Education has been, and will forever be, a key component of our youth programs. Having a partner that values learning and development will be very impactful on our entire organization."
