
New York Red Bull Dane Richards Out for Three Months

SECAUCUS, NJ (March 11, 2008) - Red Bull New York announced today that midfielder Dane Richards will be out for three months with a MCL tear in his right knee. The injury, which will not require surgery, was sustained in the Red Bulls' scrimmage against the Red Bull Salzburg Juniors on March 3. He was re-evaluated by the team's medical staff on Monday upon returning from Austria.
Richards was one of the finalists for the MLS Rookie of the Year award in 2007. Drafted in the second round, 19th overall in the 2007 MLS SuperDraft out of Clemson University, Richards started in 27 of 30 games for the Red Bulls in his first season, notching two goals and six assists. The Jamaican international has also earned five caps for his country.
