New York Liberty News Release

NEW YORK, NY - May 14, 2014 - New York Liberty Head Coach and General Manager Bill Laimbeer announced today that the team has waived forward Nicky Anosike and guard Tyaunna Marshall.

A five-year veteran of the WNBA, Anosike missed the 2013 season after playing in just 10 games with the Los Angeles Sparks in 2012. She was selected in the second round of the 2008 draft by the Minnesota Lynx and went on to be named to the All-WNBA Rookie Team that season. She has career averages of 8.9 points and 6.6 rebounds in 139 career games.

Marshall was selected by the Liberty in the second round (14th overall) of the 2014 WNBA Draft. A 5-9 guard, she finished her career at Georgia Tech as the team's all-time leading scorer with over 2,000 career points. She was also one of five Georgia Tech players of all-time with more than 1,500 career points and 600 career boards. Marshall appeared in all three preseason games, averaging 2.7 points and 6.0 rebounds per game.

New York opens regular season action against Connecticut on Friday, May 16 at 7 p.m. at Mohegan Sun Arena. The Liberty will then make their long awaited return to Madison Square Garden to host the Chicago Sky on Opening Night on Saturday, May 17 at 8 p.m. Prior to the game, the team will host a fan fest outside of The Garden starting at 4 p.m., highlighted by music, prizes, guest appearances, and basketball contests on the Liberty sport court.

Liberty season ticket packages and individual tickets are available at NYLiberty.com.
