
New York Earn 1-0 Win against Columbus Crew at Red Bull Arena

The New York Red Bulls (6-9-4, 22 points) earned a 1-0 win against the Columbus Crew (6-8-6, 24 points) on Wednesday night at Red Bull Arena.
New York scored the lone goal of the match in the 33rd minute, when defender Andrew Gutman played a pass into the feet of Fábio, who then laid it off for John Tolkin. After Tolkin brought the ball across his body, he fired a shot in between the legs of Elroy Room to give New York the lead.
The Red Bulls ended a seven-match winless streak and recorded their first win at Red Bull Arena since June 18, bringing their home record to 5-2-2 this season.
Tolkin scored his first career MLS goal in his 15th MLS appearance. He is the 11th different goal scorer for New York this season.
Fábio tallied his seventh assist of the season, which ranks tied for fourth among MLS players. The Brazilian striker has now recorded two goals and five assists at Red Bull Arena this year.
Gutman earned his first assist of the season for New York. He is the 11th different player to tally an assist this year for the Red Bulls.
Goalkeeper Carlos Coronel recorded four saves in the match and tallied his sixth shutout of the season, which includes five at Red Bull Arena. He is now tied for third in MLS in shutouts.
Defender Andrés Reyes made his first start since June 27 against Atlanta United, after suffering a hamstring injury.
The Red Bulls tallied their 199th MLS regular-season clean sheet, which moves them into sole possession of fifth all-time in league history.
New York have posted a 19-10-10 mark in matches after a loss since 2018.
The Red Bulls earned their 117th win at Red Bull Arena since 2010 and have the most points (388) earned at home in MLS during that timespan.
Red Bulls Captain Sean Davis passed Tony Meola for seventh all-time in MLS regular season minutes played (11,266) in franchise history.
Since 2015, New York is 84-18-22 when scoring the first goal of a match, including 6-4-2 this season.
