RSL jumped out to an early lead when it finished off a counterattack in the sixth minute when Bobby Wood found Meram just inside the penalty area where he calmly curled a low shot into the bottom corner of the net for the 1-0 lead. From then, both teams traded chances on either end of the field that never materialized as RSL went into the halftime break up 1-0.
The home team's lead didn't last long to start the second half as Fafa Picault headed home a Houston corner kick in the 51st minute to draw the match level at 1-1. Dynamo FC continued its press for the go-ahead goal but each chance was snuffed out by the RSL backline. Late in the second half, Julio entered the match and provided the heroics for the home side as his effort from just inside the penalty area proved the winner for RSL in the 88th minute, giving RSL its second consecutive win.
