
New York City Football Club Signs Argentinian Forward Julián Fernández

New York City Football Club (NYCFC) today announced the signing of Forward Julián Fernández from Argentinian side Club Atlético Vélez Sarsfield on a contract through the 2027 season with an option for 2028.
The 19-year-old will join NYCFC pending the receipt of his ITC and a P-1 Visa. The left-footed Forward joins NYCFC as part of Major League Soccer's U22 initiative.
Sporting Director David Lee said: "We're delighted to welcome Julián to the Club and are excited to integrate him into the team. Julián is a player we have followed for a number of years and was a priority target for us in this transfer window. He is a dynamic attacking player with high potential, who despite being only 19 years old, has already accumulated significant professional experience in domestic and international competition.
"He is an attack-minded winger who can also play centrally and has an excellent left foot, is quick, skillful and good in 1v1 situations. His acquisition will bring more depth and competition to our roster. Julián is the latest highly rated young talent to choose our Club as the next stage in their career. We're excited for his arrival, and to help maximize his potential, and contribute to our team as we compete for championships for our fans."
The Argentinian has made 60 appearances for Vélez Sarsfield, scoring seven goals and providing two assists across all competitions, including appearances in the Copa Libertadores, since making his debut last season. Fernández has also made five appearances for Argentina at the U20 level, including at the 2023 South American U20 Championship.

I am excited to meet the coaching staff and my new teammates, I will continue to work hard every day to improve and help the team as we close out the season.
