
New Mexico tops Tulsa

RIO RANCHO, NM - Forward Larry Owens scored 14 points and Ryan Reid tallied 12 points and eight rebounds but the Tulsa 66ers (30-15) fell on the road to the New Mexico Thunderbirds (17-27) by a 99-86 margin Saturday evening inside the Santa Ana Star Center.
Also scoring in double figures for Tulsa was Matt Bouldin with 12, Jerome Dyson with 11 and Brandon Brooks with 10. Additionally, forward Latavious Williams recorded nine points, eight rebounds and two blocked shots.
The game was Tulsa's final road contest of this year's regular season.
Offensively, Tulsa garnered 19 assists as a team, led by five each from guards Bouldin and Brooks. On the defensive end of the floor, the 66ers forced 26 Thunderbird turnovers and collected eight steals.
New Mexico, who outscored Tulsa by a 29-9 margin in the second quarter to take control of the game, was led by Dar Tucker with a game-high 26 points. J.R. Giddens posted the game's only double-double with 10 points and 10 boards.
Tulsa finishes the 2010-11 regular season with five straight home games inside the Tulsa Convention Center starting this Tuesday night, March 22, against the Austin Toros. Tip time is scheduled for 7 p.m. CT.
