New Mexico Ice Wolves News Release
(Albuquerque, NM) - The New Mexico Ice Wolves® are proud to announce that forward Jack Rausch has been tendered for the 2022-2023 NAHL season. Rausch is a 5'10", 170lb. forward from Minnetonka, Minnesota. Rausch played for Minnetonka High School's hockey team this year playing in 16 games. In those 16 games Rausch tallied three goals and eight assists for 11 total points.
"Jack plays a 200ft. game and he competes in all three zones. That's what I noticed most when watching him play," said NM Ice Wolves head coach Phil Fox. "Playing with pace and being relentless on the puck is something that translates well into junior hockey and Jack will bring that. He will add some nice depth up front for us next year in spots we will need to fill."
Rausch is the fourth player to be tendered to the NM Ice Wolves for the 2022-2023 season. He joins defensemen Dillon Kuntz, goalie Jack Fuller and forward Blaise Schutt on the team's tendered list for next season. Signing a tender gives the team the rights to that player for the upcoming season. When a tender agreement is signed that player can no longer play for any other NAHL team in the season. Each team gets seven tenders per season. These tenders can be traded and used to add assets to the team for the upcoming season.
With the NM Ice Wolves looking to make the 2021-2022 NAHL playoffs for the first time in franchise history, signing these tenders becomes important to maintain the highest level of hockey for the team to continue the success of this season. The NM Ice Wolves continue their historic 2021-2022 season this weekend with a two-game homestand on Friday, March 18 and Saturday, March 19 when the team welcomes South Division rival Shreveport Mud Bugs at Outpost Ice Arenas in Albuquerque, NM. After the team and league ended the 2019-2020 season early, as all major sports leagues did due to COVID-19, with no playoffs the NM Ice Wolves were honored by the entire North American Hockey League as the NAHL Organization of the Year and the NAHL's South Division Organization of the Year. Alex Dominique became the first ever NM Ice Wolves' player named to the NAHL All-South Division Rookie Team and the team's jersey was voted best in the league in a virtual playoff voted on by fans league wide in the first ever NAHL Tournament of Jerseys.
