NAHL Wichita Falls Warriors

Weekend Preview: Wichita Falls Warriors vs. Odessa Jackalopes (Games 50 & 51)

March 16, 2022 - North American Hockey League (NAHL)
Wichita Falls Warriors News Release

Teams: Wichita Falls Warriors (26-15-5-3 60pts) vs. Odessa Jackalopes (25-20-1-4 55pts)

Where: Ector County Coliseum

Broadcast: HockeyTv.com

One Team in, One Team out:

Odessa's recent slide of games has pushed them outside of playoff contention, going 3-6-0-1 in their last ten games. They now sit two points behind the Mudbugs for that final playoff spot. For the Jackalopes, in their remaining ten games, eight of them will be against opponents in the playoff contention.

Wichita Falls are maintaining the third spot in the South Division, with the Mudbugs 3 points back and a game in hand, the 4 points on offer will be crucial for them this weekend.

Wichita Falls has 11 games remaining, with 8 out of the 11 coming against non-playoff opponents.

An Even Series:

Each team has won three games in the six games played this season. The most recent tilt between these two teams came in the last weekend of January, where both teams won their respective games that weekend with a score of 5-1.

All the games have had significant goal differentials except one, where the Jackalopes took the win in overtime with a 6-5 victory in Wichita Falls.

Extra Man is an Advantage:

The Warriors are now 1st in the NAHL in power-play percentage with 29.3%. 46 out of the team's 173 combined goals have come on the man advantage.

Ryan Robinson, William Lawson-Body, and Vincent Corcoran are double digits in points on the power-play and lead the team in scoring. Look for them to have a helping hand opening the scoring this weekend.

Goals Against Average:

The Warriors are 3rd in the NAHL in allowing goals against. Heading into the weekend, they average 2.59 goals per game, trailing only the Lone Star Brahmas and the New Mexico Ice Wolves in that category.

It's been a combined team effort from standing tall to block shots, or hustling back defensively to break up a play, or the combined duo from those masked men between the pipes, as both Brandon Milberg and Daniel Duris have nine shutouts together with a combined GAA of both Warriors goaltenders is 2.47 on the season.

Points are becoming more scarce as both teams will look to break out the brooms and sweep the weekend. Both games at the Ector County Coliseum will begin at 7:15, with the broadcast carried on HockeyTv.
