Weekend Preview: Wichita Falls Warriors vs. El Paso Rhinos (Games 57 & 58)
April 7, 2022 - North American Hockey League (NAHL)
Wichita Falls Warriors News Release
South Division Standings: 3rd
Points: 72
Last ten games: 9-1-0-0
With the playoffs already secured for the Warriors, home-ice advantage is very much in play. Only three points separate the Ice Wolves from the Warriors for second place, which means with a sweep this weekend, and if the Ice Wolves get swept, the Warriors would have sole possession of second place.
Warriors Dominance:
In the six games between these teams, the Warriors have won five of those games. Their only loss came on January 15th on the road in a 5-2 score.
The Warriors have scored five or more goals in 4 of the 5 victories.
El Paso's Struggles:
The Rhinos have gone through some changes throughout the season, trying to find the right combination of players and build toward their future. El Paso went through a 23 game losing streak before winning against the Corpus Christi Ice Rays this past weekend.
They sit last in the South Division with 32 points and could play spoiler in their remaining four games.
Rookie Leader:
Regarding building toward their future, Jonathan Horn is the Rhino's leading scorer with 18 goals, 26 assists, and 44 points. This forward is 10th among rookie scorers and leads all rookies in shot attempts with 153. Look for him to shoot the puck for El Paso this weekend.
Leader From the Backend:
Wichita Falls Warriors are looking to continue their stellar defensive play, starting with the Captain, Vincent Corcoran. Just named NAHL Defenseman of the Month for March, he has been a mainstay on the Warriors backend. He has 9 goals and 41 assists for 50 points, leading all NAHL defensemen in scoring.
This Weekend:
The Warriors will look to continue the Rhino's home losing streak this weekend at 7:00 PM MDT as they start the road trips to end the season. Watch your Warriors live on HockeyTV.
