
St. Cloud Captain Hong Commits to Dartmouth

St. Cloud Norsemen forward and captain Nik Hong announces his commitment to play NCAA Division I hockey at Dartmouth College.
Hong, a native of Minneapolis, MN, is in his second season with the Norsemen, both as a letter-wearer. Hong has played in 51 games this season, scoring 49 points on 17 goals and 32 assists, averaging 0.96 points per game. In his North American Hockey League career, Hong, the right-shot '02 center, has played in 107 games, scoring 66 points.
"Education is very important to me. Having the opportunity to go to a world class school while also being able to play high level Division I hockey made Dartmouth a no brainer for me," said the Norsemen captain.
"I really liked the coaching staff. They have a clear vision for the future and I'm looking forward to being a part of that," Hong said.
Prior to his Norsemen tenure, Hong played four years for Shattuck-St. Mary's.
Hong's commitment marks the eighth NCAA Division I commitment on the active roster, along with Brandon Lajoie (Alaska-Anchorage), Blake Mesenburg (Miami), Evan Murr (Minnesota State), Ryan O'Neill (Univ. of St. Thomas), John Opilka (St. Cloud State), Blake Perbix (Northern Michigan) and Max Strand (Vermont).
The Norsemen are the NAHL Central Division regular season champions continues with a three road games, before wrapping the regular season at home on Saturday night, April 16 at 7:00 p.m. against North Iowa at the St. Cloud Municipal Athletic Complex. The Robertson Cup playoffs are set to begin in St. Cloud on April 22-23. Tickets for home games are available at tickets.stcloudnorsemen.com.
