Worcester Bravehearts News Release
WORCESTER, Mass. - The Worcester Bravehearts improved their record to 13- 4 on the season with a 17-3 win over the Torrington Titans on June 22 at Hanover Insurance Park at Fitton Field.
The Titans came in 9-8 and 3.5 games behind the Bravehearts in the West Division, but the Bravehearts came out storming in Sunday's game.
Lead off hitter Darian Ramage ignited the Bravehearts' offense in the first inning with a double and scored on an error by the left fielder, and after that the Bravehearts never looked back. Worcester's offense exploded in the 4th and 5th innings, as the squad scored 10 runs combined to take an 11-0 lead.
Every Bravehearts starter recorded a hit in the game. Some of the strongest performances came from outfielder Ian Strom and catcher T.J. Riccio, who recorded four RBIs each. Jordan Berry topped off the offense's performance with a two-run homerun in the bottom of the 8th to give the Bravehearts a 15-3 lead.
Bravehearts starting pitcher Brian Christian pitched very well in replacement of the injured Aaron Doughty. Christian pitched 4 shutout innings, giving up only 2 hits and recording 7 strikeouts in the game. Evan Devico recorded the win pitching three innings in relief of Christian.
Worcester will play the North Shore Navigators for the first time this season at 7 p.m. June 24 in Lynn, Mass. The Bravehearts' next home game will be against the Pittsfield Suns at 7:05 June 27 at Hanover Insurance Park.
