
New Look Spirit Too Much for Spitfires, Saginaw Defeats Windsor 11-3

WINDSOR, ON - The trade deadline has passed, and a few new faces were in the Spitfires lineup on Wednesday as the Saginaw Spirit were in town. The Spirit who are hosting the memorial cup loaded up with top players from around the league. The Spirit took this one convincingly by a score of 11-3.
In the first period, it was all Spirit as they dominated play and loaded up at the deadline. They broke the deadlock just over 11 minutes into the game. The Spitfires did not register their first shot until 12:44 into the period. Four minutes later, the Spitfires responded. Morneau with a great individual effort went top shelf on the backhand to tie the game at one, it was his 4th of the season. Less than two minutes later, the Spirit would score shorthanded and take a 2-1 lead. Just a minute and a half later, the Spitfires responded with some good work down low and Abraham swatted in his 14th on the year. Two minutes later, the Spirit would respond with 27 left in the period and take a 3-2 lead heading into the break. The shots were 11-7 in favour of the Spirit.
In the second period, it was all Saginaw as they would score 4 unanswered goals and take a commanding 7-2 lead. Shots were 21-14 after forty minutes.
In the third period, the Spirit would add 4 more and take this one 11-3. Cristoforo scored his 3rd of the year for the teams third goal.
The Spitfires are back in action on Saturday when the Sudbury Wolves come to town. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:05pm.
