New Jersey Jackals News Release
The seventh inning stretch not only woke up the fans at Yogi Berra Stadium on Friday night, but it woke up the bats of the Jackals, who scored ten runs in the bottom of the seventh to pull away from the Shikoku Island All-Stars, 16-7, and extend their record to 17-14.
In the seventh inning, Richard Stock added another RBI to his lead-leaguing total of 30 to initially start the scoring for the Jackals, who were up 6-5 before the base knock. Emilio Guerrero would open the flood gates a few batters later, as the 6'4" third basemen clobbered a towering three run homerun over the left-centerfield wall to begin the breakaway from the Japanese opponents. Santiago Chirino and Conrad Gregor also combined for RBIs in the game-altering frame.
The performance from the batter's box was an all-around effort from the Jackals, who had six starters account for RBIs. Stock led the way in driving in runners, as he registered five RBIs. Only one hitter in the Jackals' lineup did not get a hit, yet every player reached base at least once. Six players also had multiple hits.
From the pitching mound, starter Justin Brantley pitched 6.2 innings, giving up three runs and striking out four. The Hudson, New York native earned his fourth win of the season from the night's production, stretching his record to 4-1.
The Jackals will next play on Saturday night against Shikoku Island, the second game of a three game series.
