For New Jersey, Emilio Guerrero went 2-for-3 with the Jackals lone RBI.
Cuba 7, Quebec 3
A three-run seventh inning proved to be the deciding factor as the Cuban National Team defeated the Quebec Capitales by a score of 7-3 at Stade Canac.
Yordanis Samon went 3-for-5 on the evening, with a two-run HR among his hits. Carlos Perex, Yosvany Alarcon, and Orlando Aceby all had two hits each for Cuba, who won their fourth consecutive game on their tour.
The Cuban bullpen came up big tonight, with the combination of Yudiel Rodriguez, Pablo Guillen, and Frank Luis Medina combining to hold the Capitales to no runs, three hits, and two walks over the final 5 1/3 innings.
For Quebec, Michael Baca went 2-for-4 in the loss.
Shikoku Island 7, Rockland 2
The visiting Shikoku Island Independents scored three runs in the first inning on their way to a 6-0 victory over the Rockland Boulders in a rain delayed contest at Palisades Credit Union Park.
Hayato Hirama led the way for Shikoku Island with a 3-for-5 performance, which included a pair of RBIs. Junichiro Kishi also went 3-for-5 on the night, Katsuya Sendo went 2-for-5 with a HR and two RBIs, and Mizuki Okamura had a 2-for-5 night to pace the 17-hit barrage by the Independents.
Daichi Ishii went 6 1/3 strong innings for Shikoku Island on the evening. Ishii did not allow a run and only five hits, while walking three and striking out seven batters to pick up the win.
In the defeat for Rockland, Adam Ehrlich went 2-for-3.
Trois-Rivieres at Sussex County - POSTPONED (RAIN)
Mother Nature did not cooperate with the tilt between the Susse County Miners and Trois-Rivieres Aigles at Skylands Stadium, however. The two teams were rained out on Thursday night, with the game to be rescheduled as part of a single-admission doubleheader on August 2.
