WEEKLY WRAP-UP: The Cardinals went 4-3 last week, finishing their series at Williamsport (Pittsburgh Pirates) with a victory on Wednesday and splitting a pair of games with Brooklyn (New York Mets), Aberdeen (Baltimore Orioles) and Tri-City (Houston Astros). They are currently 9-10 on the season and in 4th place of the MacNamara Division of the New York-Penn League, 5 games behind division leading Aberdeen.

BIRDS WITH BATS: The Cards are batting .247 as a team, 10th in the league&3B Jake Mullinax was named New York-Penn League Player of the Week for the week ended July 4&For the week, Mullinax was 12-for-31 (.387) with a home run and 11 RBI&Mullinax has hit safely in each of his last 10 games, batting .364 (16-for-44) over the span&His streak is the 3rd longest streak in the NY-Penn League this season&2B Chris Patrick is currently riding a 9 game hitting streak, going 16-for-40 (.400) during the streak&OF Sean Dobson has hit safely in 10 of his last 11 games, hitting at a .302 clip (13-for-43) during the run&The only game he failed to get a hit he had only one at-bat&1B Levi Webber has hit safely in each of his last 6 games, batting .318 (7-for-22) over the span&SS Matt Shepherd has also hit safely in each of his last six games&Over his last 9 games, OF Marcos Rodriguez is 10-for-34 (.294) with 5 RBI&OF Steve Sherman had a 4 game hitting streak snapped on July 6&During the streak, Sherman batted .462 (6-for-13) with a home run and 4 RBI.

CARDINALS HURLERS: The Cards have a 4.91 team ERA, 14th in the league&The Cards have recorded a 3.65 ERA (91.1 IP, 37 ER) out of the bullpen&RHP Chris Bova has recorded a 1.17 ERA (7.2 IP, 1 ER) and 8 strikeouts over his last 5 appearances&Since joining the team from Peoria, LHP Jackson Paz has pitched 4.1 scoreless innings and allowed just one hit and one walk while striking out 4&RHP Michael Sillman has pitched to a 1.69 ERA (5.1 IP, 1 ER) over his last 5 appearances&RHP Jaymes Torres had a Cards season-high streak of 7.2 scoreless innings snapped on July 2 against Brooklyn when he allowed 2 runs in 2.1 innings pitched&The right-hander has made 6 appearances this season, allowing opponents to score only once and recording at least one strikeout each time.

THE WEEK AHEAD: The Cards return to action tonight at 7:15 pm at Skylands park when they take on the Tri-City ValleyCats in the final game of their three-game series. The club takes its first off day of the season on Thursday and then returns to action on Friday night at Hudson Valley (Tampa Bay Devil Rays). Saturday night the Cards return home to Skylands at 5:00 pm for Scout Sleepover Night, SECTV Mousepad Giveaway Night and post-game Family Catch on the Field. The team is away on Sunday at Hudson Valley, Monday at Staten Island and then returns home on Tuesday at 7:15 pm. Valley National Bank and The Daily Record sponsor a poster give-away and there will be a post-game party at the Hampton House Bar & Grill with Cardinals players, coaches and staff.
