GOING TO THE SHOW (Former Cardinals in the Major Leagues)
St. Louis Cardinals RHP Matt Morris has recorded a 9-6 record, with his most recent victory coming in a 3-run, 7-inning performance against the Cincinnati Reds. OF Covelli CoCoCrisp, currently with the Cleveland Indians, is hitting .317 (13-for-41) with 2 HR and 10 RBI. 2B Adam Kennedy has a batting average of .424 (14-for-33) in July, for the Anaheim Angels. 3B Jose Leon spent the 1996 season with the NJ Cardinals and is currently playing for the Baltimore Orioles.
BIRDS OF A FEATHER (Memphis Redbirds Class AAA Pacific Coast League)
OF John Gall is hitting .320 with 20 HR and 65 RBI. Gall has posted an 11-game hit streak along with 9 HR in June. 2B Bo Hart is hitting .326 (15-for-46) in the month of July and is in the midst of a 6-game hit streak. RHP Danny Haren has posted 8 victories for the Redbirds in 2004. He has 10 or more strikeouts in 5 of his 18 outings. As a reliever RHP Josh Pearce has finished 12 games this season. He has struck out multiple batters in 7 of his 23 appearances.
MOUNTAIN MEN (Tennessee Smokies Class AA Southern League)
3B/C Gabe Johnson is hitting .452 (19-for-42) with 4 HR and 11 RBI in his last 11 games, and has a current hitting streak of 12 games. Johnson is hitting .307 with 15 HR and 45 RBI this season. OF Skip Schumaker has hit .353 (12-for-34) with 3 multi-hit performances in July.
FLYING HIGH (Palm Beach Cardinals Class A Florida State League)
RHP Josh Teekel has posted a 6-2 record along with a 3.35 ERA in 17 starts. His best performance of the season came on June 26th when he pitched 8 1/3 innings giving up just 1 run on 3 hits while striking out 12. CF Reid Gorecki has been playing well all season for Palm Beach. Gorecki has recorded 4 different hit streaks of 5 or more games, with the longest being a 12-game streak. He has posted a .277 batting average with 6 HR and 38 RBI this season.
TEEPEE TALK (Peoria Chiefs Class A Midwest League)
2B Jarrett Hoffpauir, continues to impress during his first professional season. Since being promoted to Peoria on June 28th he has hit .309 with 1 HR and 5 RBI. Hoffpauir played his first 9 games with New Jersey in 2004, hitting .361 (13-for-36) with 3 HR. Jarrett is teaming up with SS Brendan Ryan, to form the Chiefs middle infield. Ryan is hitting .336 this season with 30 RBI and 13 stolen bases. Ryan has had 4 hit streaks of at least 4 games, including a stretch of 13 straight games back in May. Joe Mather spent all of 2003 and the first 3 games of 2004 with New Jersey before being promoted to Peoria. In his last 7 games, Joe is hitting .400 (8-for-20) with 3 multi-hit performances.
