AUGUSTA, NJ - The New Haven County Cutters guaranteed themselves a spot in the post season, Wednesday night, with a 12-0 victory in game one of a doubleheader against the Sussex Skyhawks at Skylands Park.
The Cutters will ultimately earn either the second or third of the Can-Am League's four playoff seeds, depending on their overall record at the conclusion of the regular season on Monday. The North Shore Spirit garnered the top spot as result of winning the season's first half title.
The Cutters entered Wednesday's action with the league's second-best overall record (47-37), holding a two-game lead over Brockton and a six-game advantage over Quebec with seven games to go.
The first round of the playoffs begins Wednesday, Sept. 6.
