New England Revolution vs. San Jose Earthquakes: Game Notes
August 26, 2009 - Major League Soccer (MLS)
New England Revolution News Release
FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - One of the hottest teams in Major League Soccer with a record of 4-1-1 in its last six games, the New England Revolution continues its three-game home stand this weekend when the club hosts the San Jose Earthquakes on Saturday, Aug. 29, at Gillette Stadium. The game will be televised live on TV38 beginning at 7:30 p.m., while the WEEI Radio Network will also carry the action.
New England (8-6-6, 30 pts.) climbed into a tie for third place in the Eastern Conference with a pair of wins over Seattle Sounders FC and Real Salt Lake last week, and the club is now level on points with both Colorado and Toronto FC for the final two playoff spots. San Jose (5-11-5, 20 pts.), meanwhile, sits at the foot of the Western Conference table despite going 2-1-1 in its last four games.
Saturday night's match will conclude the regular-season series between the Revs and Earthquakes, as the clubs met in the season opener on March 21 at Buck Shaw Stadium. New England forward Kheli Dube - the reigning MLS Player of the Week following his hat-trick performance against RSL - scored the only goal in the 55th minute of that game to guide the Revolution to a 1-0 victory. A win or a draw on Saturday night would give the Revs their first season series win over San Jose since 2000.
