New England Revolution News Release
FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - Eliminated from SuperLiga 2009 with a hard-luck loss to the Chicago Fire last night in the semifinals, the New England Revolution will now turn its full attention to the MLS regular season beginning with a match against Chivas USA on Sunday, July 19, at Gillette Stadium. The game will be televised live on TV38 beginning at 6 p.m., while the WEEI Radio Network will also carry the action.
The Revs (4-5-5, 17 pts.) enter the game on a 242-minute scoreless streak in regular-season action and will be looking to end that goalless run against Chivas USA (8-5-3, 27 pts.), a team which has conceded just 13 goals in 16 games and has the second-best defensive record in the league. The Goats have struggled recently, however, going 1-4-0 in their last five regular-season games and crashing out of SuperLiga in the group stage with a record of 0-2-1.
History favors the Revolution, which has never lost to Chivas USA at Gillette Stadium. Sunday's Western Conference opponent has travelled to Foxborough four times since the club's expansion season in 2005, going 0-3-1 while the Revs have outscored the Goats, 9-2, in those four matches.
