LA Galaxy News Release
CARSON, Calif. (Thursday, July 16, 2009) - The LA Galaxy announced today that Sunday evening's friendly against AC Milan, which is presented by San Manuel Indian Bingo and Casino, is now completely sold out. Last weekend the club put standing room only tickets on sale along with the final seats at The Home Depot Center and all of those are now sold.
This game will be shown live exclusively on Fox Sports West, starting with a special edition of âGalaxy Live' at 6:30 p.m. (PT). Jim Watson, Mark Rogondino and Jackie Pickering will have all the action from The Home Depot Center as the Galaxy play the Rossoneri for the first-time ever. Galaxy Live will get fans ready for the game by featuring Watson's exclusive interview with David Beckham as he prepares to play the club that he joined on a five-month loan earlier this year.
Additionally, the game will be rebroadcast nationally on Fox Soccer Channel at 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. (PT) on Monday, July 20 and at 7 p.m. on Fox Sports en Espanol.
AC Milan join fellow European giants Chelsea, Rangers, Real Madrid and many more as the latest high profile club to play the Galaxy at The Home Depot Center.
A 17-time Serie A champion, AC Milan are one of the biggest and most popular clubs in Europe and throughout the world. Boasting a roster that includes former World Cup winners Gennaro Gattuso, Filippo Inzaghi, Andrea Pirlo, Ronaldinho and many more, the club finished the 2008-09 Serie A season in third place behind only Inter Milan and Juventus. The club enters the 2009-10 campaign with hopes of an 18th Serie A title under the direction of Leonardo, who was named the club's head coach in May 2009.
In addition to their success in Italy, Milan have also found success in European competitions as well, winning the European Cup seven times, including last in 2007 when they defeated Liverpool 2-1 in Athens. Known as the Rossoneri, for their famed Red-and-Black uniforms, Milan are the last club to win the European Cup in consecutive years, lifting the trophy in both 1989 and 1990.
The Galaxy play their final MLS game before the friendly against AC Milan tonight when they take on the New York Red Bulls at Giants Stadium. That game will be shown live on Fox Soccer Channel, starting with the pregame show at 4:30 p.m. (PT).
