New England Revolution News Release
FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - The Eastern Conference-leading New England Revolution will play two games on the road this week, traveling to play the Colorado Rapids at their new home on Thursday, Aug. 16, before coming back East to play the Kansas City Wizards on Sunday, Aug. 19.
On Thursday, the Revs will travel to Commerce City, Colo., to take on the Colorado Rapids at the brand-new Dick's Sporting Goods Park. Kickoff is set for 9 p.m. ET (7 p.m. MT) and the game will be televised live on Fox Sports New England. (Note: this is both a time and TV change.)
On Sunday, New England will take on the Kansas City Wizards at Arrowhead Stadium at 8 p.m. ET (7 p.m. CT). TV38 will broadcast that game live.
Because of the two-game road trip, the Revs will train just once at home this week. On Tuesday, the Revolution will conduct a full-team training session at Payson Park Field in Foxborough (directions below), beginning at 10 a.m. The 18-player travel party will also conduct a training session in Kansas City at noon on Saturday.

- New England is just 3-10-1 in games played in Colorado - but all of those games were played at Invesco Field at Mile High ... (Gillette Stadium) With just three games remaining in the regular season, the Revs clinched a berth in the MLS Cup Playoffs behind a 3-1 victory over Colorado at Gillette Stadium on Sept. 30, 2006 ... Steve Ralston put the Revs on the board in the fourth minute, converting a penalty kick after Jay Heaps had been kicked in the face in the penalty area ... José Manuel Abundis scored his first and only goal as a member of the Revolution when he converted in the 59th minute, and then Clint Dempsey closed the scoring for the Revs in the 79th minute to push the score to 3-0 ... Kyle Beckerman snapped Matt Reis' shutout bid in the 90th minute when he converted a penalty kick.

(Gillette Stadium) Pat Noonan scored in the 55th minute and Adam Cristman added an insurance goal in stoppage time to lift the Revolution to a 2-0 victory over the Wizards on Aug. 2 at Gillette Stadium ... after a scoreless first half, Noonan volleyed in a Taylor Twellman headed pass for the 1-0 lead ... the Revs held on to the shutout, benefiting from Cristman's rookie-class leading fourth goal of the season in the 91st minute ... Matt Reis made five saves in his seventh shutout of the season.

TIME AND TV CHANGE ON THURSDAY Note that Thursday's game at Colorado is the first of three games in Fox Sports New England's 2007 Revs TV package ... Thursday's game will be televised live at 9 p.m. ET ... FSN will also carry the Revs' Sept. 9 tilt at rival D.C. United (3 p.m.) and its regular-season finale at Toronto FC at 12:30 p.m. ET on Oct. 20.
LEAD STRETCHED OUT TO SIX With Sunday's victory over Los Angeles, the Revs pushed their season point total to 36 points and are now tied with FC Dallas for the top point total in the league ... the Revs are now six points clear of second-place D.C. with a chance to go nine points up after Thursday's game ... while the Revs are six points ahead of second place, the rest of the East is still jammed up, with two points separating second and fourth places, and a total of four points between second and fifth.
MLS' TOP TEAM STATISTICALLY New England is now atop the league's overall table with 36 points, tied with FC Dallas ... both teams have played 20 games, and are averaging a league-best 1.80 points per game ... the Revolution, however, boast a MLS-best .650 winning percentage, besting Dallas by .025 (.625) ... New England boasts the league's top scoring average (1.70 goals per game) and scoring total (34 goals) ... the Revs have the fewest losses in the league this season - two fewer than any team - and have taken points in 16 of 20 games.
PERFECT 10 The Revolution became the first Eastern Conference team to reach the 10-win plateau this season ... the Revs now have 10 wins, while D.C. and New York each have nine ... the Revs are the third overall team in the league to have collected their 10th win of the season, joining Western Conference leaders FC Dallas (11-6-3) and Houston (10-7-4) ... this marks the third-straight season the Revs have recorded 10 wins, and the 10th season overall.
LUXURIES OF THE ROAD When the Revs begin their six-day, two-city road trip on Wednesday - the team plays at Colorado on Thursday before traveling to Kansas City for Sunday's game - the team will be returning to the comforts of the road ... New England claims MLS' top road record - 5-2-2 (17 pts.) - and play six of their final 10 games away from Gillette Stadium ... the Revs average 1.22 goals per game on the road, and have allowed just nine away from home.
CALLING COLORADO On Thursday, the Revs play their first of two games this season against Colorado ... the Rapids are the only team New England has yet to face this season ... in fact, the Revs have completed their two-game series with four of the six Western Conference teams already, with just three games remaining against the West: two against Colorado and one against Dallas.
WRAPPING UP BUSY STRETCH The Revs - who are in the midst of an eight-games-in-four-weeks stretch - now see the light at the end with the final three games of the run coming up in the next week-and-a-half ... with road matches at Colorado and Kansas City on Thursday and Sunday, respectively, the last game before a bye week will come at home against New York on Saturday, Aug. 25 ... the Revs have Labor Day weekend off, and then return to the MLS schedule on Sunday, Sept. 9, at D.C. United.
ONWARD TO THE OPEN CUP SEMIFINALS The Revolution advanced to the semifinals of the 2007 U.S. Open Cup behind a 2-1 victory over the Harrisburg City Islanders at Gillette Stadium on Wednesday, Aug. 8... Andy Dorman and Taylor Twellman each scored to give the Revs' a 2-0 halftime lead, but the City Islanders struck on Matt Tanzini's 34-yard free kick, pulling within one goal ... with the goal, the Revs have advanced to the semifinals for just the second time in team history - they also made it to the finals in 2001 - where they will face USL-1 side Carolina RailHawks at Veterans Stadium in New Britain, Ct., on Tuesday, Sept. 4, at 7 p.m.
SPECTACULAR CROWD A sell-out crowd of 35,402 was on hand for the Revs' match against Los Angeles on Aug. 12 ... that crowd was the second-highest attended stand-alone soccer game in Gillette Stadium history, behind the 61,316 that were on hand to watch MLS Cup 2002 (ironically between the Revs and Galaxy) ... overall, it was the seventh-largest crowd at a Revs game in club history - stand-alone or multiple-game event.
TWELLMAN'S TOUCH Taylor Twellman scored another goal on Sunday, Aug. 12, against Los Angeles, pushing his team-leading total to nine ... he is currently fourth in MLS this season in scoring, even though he missed three games while away on U.S. National Team duty ... Twellman is now ranked sixth on the MLS career scoring chart (84 goals), and is now just four goals back of fifth place (Roy Lassiter, 88 goals).
