New England acquires goalkeeper Doug Warren

Foxborough, Mass. - The New England Revolution announced today that the team has acquired goalkeeper Doug Warren from D.C. United in exchange for New England's natural 4th round pick in the 2006 MLS SuperDraft.

Warren joined the Revolution roster from July through November of the 2004 season after Revs goalkeeper Adin Brown was injured. Warren was called in from Major League Soccer's emergency goalkeepers pool to the Revolution roster and he backed up Matt Reis for the remainder of the season without making any game appearances for the Revs.

"We're pleased to have Doug officially in the Revolution fold," said Technical Director Joe Cummings. "He's a quality keeper and a good team guy who understands the Revolution coaching staff's approach to game preparation. This is an important roster move for the club."

Warren, who played collegiate soccer at Clemson and Indiana, played for United in 2003 and 2004. In 2003, Warren appeared in six games for D.C., starting five of those. He posted a record of 0-3-2 record with a 1.34 goals against average. In the 2003 post-season, Warren started two matches, both losses, and made 8 saves, giving up four goals. Warren started one game for D.C. United last season before joining the Revolution in July.
