CAMDEN, New Jersey - The Sugar Land Skeeters (19-28) newest signing made an immediate impact on both sides of the ball to lift the visitors over the Camden Riversharks (24-24) for the first time in franchise history on Friday night at Campbell's Field.

Miguel Negron arrived in Camden three hours before the start of the game ready to get into the action without hesitation. Negron got the start in center field and responded brilliantly with an exceptional diving catch to save a crucial run in the first that could have decided the game. However, it was his bat that did the talking. Negron finished with a 3-4 night smacking a double and two RBI-singles to help the Skeeters clinch game two.

Michael Nix made his first start of his professional career and went three and a third innings while giving up only four runs on four hits while striking out two, but it was reliever Dustin Richardson (1-0) who picked up his first win of the season after two and two thirds of relief without allowing any runs and striking out four. Eric Krebs held the seventh and eighth for closer Gary Majewski to shutdown the ninth for the save (5).

The Skeeters took the early lead in the top of the first again compliments of and RBI-single from both Negron and catcher Octavio Martinez, 2-0. Ofilio Castro singled with two outs and Manny Mejia walked to put two aboard.

However, just like in game one, the Riversharks countered with three runs in the bottom half of the inning. Timely hitting from third baseman Eduardo Perez tied the game when he smacked a two-out two-RBI double down the line bringing Brian Burgamy and Alvin Colina around, 2-2. Then, Camden took the lead off a Raul Padron single up the middle to mimic the scoring from game one in the first, 3-2.

Camden tacked one run on in the second of a Paddy Matera RBI-single to double the lead, 4-2, but Sugar Land found spirit in the fifth and sixth innings.

The Skeeters started the fifth with three singles in a row up the middle from Bubba Bell, Castro and Mejia with the last scoring Bell from second to cut the lead back to one, 4-3. After Negron struck out looking, Martinez took advantage of a slider over the middle of the plate and placed it into center again to score Castro tying the game, 4-4. Starting pitcher Mike McGuire was yanked after five innings giving up four runs off nine hits.

Camden switched to reliever Blake King (1-2) in the sixth inning, and proved the wrong decision. Ryde Rodriguez began the sixth with a leadoff walk and advanced to second on a Dominic Ramos sacrifice-bunt. Bell flied out to center, but with two outs and Rodriguez now at second, Castro came through with an RBI-single into right allowing Rodriguez to score putting the Skeeters ahead, 5-4. Mejia singled in the very next at-bat pushing Castro to third, and with runners on the corners, Negron smacked his second RBI-single of the night to give Sugar Land a crucial 6-4 lead.

Majewski came in to close out the ninth giving up one run off one hit and one walk, but the final batter popped up out to center with the tying run left stranded on first to snap the Skeeters three-game losing streak conversely ending the Riversharks three-game winnings streak.

Skeeters Bites: Gary Majewski picked up his fifth save in six attempts...Miguel Negron went 3-4 with a 2B and 2RBI...Dustin Richardson picked up his first win of the season.

First pitch in game three is scheduled for 4:35 p.m. CDT.
