
Serafini Leads Bluefish to Victory

(Bridgeport, Conn.)- The Bridgeport Bluefish (21-27) were victorious against the Lancaster Barnstormers (29-19) by a score of 5-3 at The Ballpark at Harbor Yard on Friday Night. The Bluefish are four wins away from 1,000 in franchise history.
Prentice Redman extended his hitting to four consecutive games with a run scoring single to left in the first. He got on base twice in the game. Luis Lopez gave the Bluefish the lead in the third by getting on base for the second time in the contest. He lined a bases clearing double to left. The third baseman reached base three times. Elliott Ayala collected two hits on Friday while Kennard Jones reached base twice and scored twice. Luis Rodriguez drove in the final run of the night with a double in the fifth.
Kody Kirkland was the only player to register an RBI with a sacrifice fly in the second and a single to the right of center in the ninth. The Barnstormers plated the teams' only runs of the night in the first couple of frames.
In his first start for the Bluefish since 2010, Dan Serafini (1-0) picked up the victory as the southpaw delivered six innings and allowed two runs (one earned) on five hits and one walk while fanning four Barnstormers batters. Matt Pike followed out of the bullpen. The righthander gave up one hit in a scoreless seventh. Rommie Lewis and Jorge Julio tossed two inning of one run baseball on four hits with Julio notching his sixth save of the year.
Lancaster starter, Alan Johnson (3-4), suffered the loss as the hurler gave up four runs (three earned) on six hits and four walks while fanning a batter. Mike Johnston and Ching-Lung Lo completed the final five frames. Bridgeport produced one run, two hits and three strikeouts against the relievers.
Bridgeport continues a four-game series against the Lancaster Barnstormers on Saturday. First pitch is scheduled for 6:05 p.m. The Fireworks Extravaganza after the game presented by Citibank.
