NDP Announces Colorado Mammoth Youth Lacrosse Coach of the Year Award

NDP Lacrosse is proud to announce the creation of the Colorado Mammoth Youth Lacrosse Coach of the Year Award, to be presented annually to the local coach who best exemplifies the following virtues through positive reinforcement: leadership, sportsmanship, passion and commitment.

"Coaches are the foundation of lacrosse," says Colorado Mammoth president and general manager Steve Govett, who himself is a local youth lacrosse coach. "They provide many children with opportunities the kids wouldn't otherwise have. With the ever-increasing number of amazing youth coaches in this region, we anticipate a great contest."

The inaugural award will be presented on Saturday, May 16 at Dick's Sporting Goods Park in conjunction with LaxFest and the Men's Collegiate Lacrosse Association (MCLA) National Championships.

"I'm thrilled that the winner of the award will be announced on such a grand stage, during the MCLA's Division 1 National Championship Game," says John Paul, MCLA president and University of Michigan head coach. "As a coach myself, I appreciate the hard work coaches put in day in and day out. The creation of this award is a tremendous step in recognizing and honoring the efforts of the true lifeblood of the sport."

Nominations for the 2009 Colorado Mammoth Youth Lacrosse Coach of the Year Award may be submitted by email to jgross@pepsicenter.com. All submissions must include the coach's name, team name, gender, and grade level, as well as reason for nominating the coach. Please limit the official nomination to 100 words or less. The deadline for submission is Tuesday, May 5, 2009.

The winning coach will be announced and presented with an award at the Men's Collegiate Lacrosse Association Division I National Championship Game at Dicks Sporting Good's Park on May 16, 2009.
