LEAGUE ANNOUNCES UPDATED PLAYOFF SCENARIOS ENTERING FINAL TWO WEEKENDS OF REGULAR SEASON
Four spots still up for grabs; all teams remain in contention
With two weeks remaining in the National Lacrosse League's 2009 regular season, four of the eight playoff berths have been clinched. All eight teams that have not yet clinched a playoff berth still remain in contention. Several of those clubs have an opportunity to clinch this weekend. Buffalo and Calgary each have an opportunity to clinch their respective division titles. The scenarios are as follows:
East Division
BUFFALO BANDITS (9-4): Have clinched a playoff berth. Can clinch the East Division title with a win over New York. Can clinch at least a second place finish (home playoff game) with one win this weekend.
NEW YORK TITANS (8-6): Have clinched a playoff berth. Can clinch at least a second place finish (home playoff game) with a win over Buffalo AND a Boston loss.
BOSTON BLAZERS (8-6): Have clinched a playoff berth.
ROCHESTER KNIGHTHAWKS (6-7): Can clinch a playoff berth with two wins AND a Philadelphia loss to Toronto.
PHILADELPHIA WINGS (6-8): Can clinch a playoff berth by winning their two remaining games.
TORONTO ROCK (5-9): Remains in contention for a playoff berth.
West Division
CALGARY ROUGHNECKS (10-3): Have clinched a playoff berth and at least a second place finish (home playoff game). Can clinch the West Division title with one win OR one Portland loss.
PORTLAND LUMBERJAX (7-6): Clinches a playoff berth with one win this weekend. Clinches at least a second place finish (home playoff game) with a win over Minnesota this weekend.
SAN JOSE STEALTH (6-8): Clinches a playoff berth with a win over Colorado.
COLORADO MAMMOTH (6-8): Clinches a playoff berth with a win over San Jose AND an Edmonton loss to Calgary on Saturday.
MINNESOTA SWARM (6-8): Can clinch a playoff berth by winning their two remaining games.
EDMONTON RUSH (5-9): Remains in contention for a playoff berth.
The top four finishers in each division advance to the playoffs, which begin on the weekend of May 1-3. Be sure to follow the action all weekend long on the NLL Network at NLL.com.
