NBA veteran joins Stampede

Boise, ID- November 30, 2004- NBA veteran Scott Burrell has signed with the Idaho Stampede, it was announced today. Burrell, who played in the NBA FOR nine seasons and owns a championship ring from his 1998 season with the Chicago Bulls, will play small forward for the Stampede. He is expected to be in uniform and available to play Wednesday night against Sioux Falls, pending league approval of his agreement.

“Scott is an experienced player who has been in virtually every game situation possible,” said Head Coach Joe Wolf. “He is a well-rounded player and will contribute at both ends of the court for us.”

Burrell, 6-7, 230-pounds, is the only person to be selected in the first round of both the NBA Draft (1993) and the Major League Baseball draft (1989). He has played 406 games in the NBA, most of them with the Charlotte Hornets.

Burrell and Wolf were teammates with the Hornets in 1995.

The Stampede, 3-1 on the season, hosts the Sioux Falls SkyForce on Wednesday night at the Idaho Center. Sioux Falls, 5-0 and atop the CBA’s Western Conference, features three players from last year’s Idaho Stampede squad: Randy Livingston; DeSean Hadley, and David Bailey. Doors open at 6 p.m. and tipoff is at 7 p.m.
