CELTICS RECALL J.R. GIDDENS FROM UTAH JAZZ
The Boston Celtics announced that they have recalled rookie guard J.R. Giddens from their NBA Development League affiliate Utah Flash. Giddens was reassigned to the Flash on February 5 and has appeared in three games since his second assignment with averages of 17.0 points and 3.0 rebounds per game. Giddens has appeared in 15 games for the Flash this season with season averages of 17.6 points, 5.7 rebounds, 1.27 steals and 1.40 blocks per game.
FRAHM JOINS BIGHORNS
Former Gonzaga shooting Guard Richie Frahm was acquired by the Reno Bighorns. While playing for Gonzaga, Frahm helped lead the Bulldogs to the Elite 8 in the 1999 NCAA Basketball Tournament, and then to the Sweet 16 Tournament in 2000. Frahm is no stranger to the NBA. He has four seasons of NBA experience, playing with the Seattle Supersonic, Portland Trail Blazers, Minnesota Timberwolves, Houston Rockets and most recently the Los Angeles Clippers. He also played overseas for a season with the Benetton Treviso of Italy, where the team won the Italian Supercup in 2006.
THURSDAY NIGHT HIGHLIGHTS...top performers from Thursday's games
Chris Hunter dropped 34 points and a game-high 17 rebounds on the Skyforce as the Mad Ants cruised to a 99-90 win. Ron Howard and Taj McCullough scored 23 points apiece.
Bobby Jones led Sioux Falls with 24 points. John Edwards finished with 10 points and a team-high 15 rebounds. Frank Williams added 19 points.
Demetris Nichols and Curtis Stinson led all scorers in the game, finishing with 24 points apiece. Othyus Jeffers posted 23 points and 13 rebounds, while Anthony Tolliver and Patrick Sanders added 14 and 12 points, respectively for the Iowa Energy.
Jason Ellis came off the bench to score 16 points to go with 10 rebounds as the Idaho Stampede defeated the Iowa Energy 109-104 in Boise. Luke Jackson just missed a double-double with 14 points and nine rebounds. Brent Petway led all Stampede scorers with 18 points and played strong defensively, blocking five shots. Lance Allred added 13 points, while Lanny Smith and Roberto Bergersen each scored 11 points. Dwayne Jones and Kevin Burleson dropped in 10 points apiece.
Austin's Marcus Williams and Mohammed Abukar led all scorers with 23 points apiece, while Pops Mensah-Bonsu added 22 and 11 rebounds on the night.
Bakersfield benefited from a 21 point night from Nick Lewis to go with nine rebounds and an additional 20 points from Derrick Byars. Mateen Cleaves added 19.
