Naturals Swept at Frisco in Finale, 5-1

SPRINGDALE, Ark. - The Northwest Arkansas Naturals (3-6) dropped the series finale to the Frisco RoughRiders (8-1) on Saturday night by a 5-1 final score in front of 8,375 at Dr. Pepper Ballpark. The Naturals finished 0-6 against the RoughRiders in the first half of the regular season.

Designated hitter, Cam Gallagher, gave the Naturals' an early 1-0 lead off Frisco starter, Sam Wolff (2-0, 1.64, in the top of the second inning The Lancaster, Pa. native came through with a two-out, RBI base hit to center field to score catcher, Zane Evans, from second base. But proved to be the lone tally for the Naturals in the final game of the three-game set.

Right-hander, Jake Junis (0-1, 6.00), took the ball for the Naturals, in hopes of building off his strong start from April 10; but the long ball by the RoughRiders cost Northwest Arkansas the contest.

Frisco first baseman, Ronald Guzman, hit an opposite field home run in the bottom of the second inning to tie the game at 1-1. With the game still tied at 1-1 entering the last of the fifth inning, the RoughRiders, Ryan Cordell, hit a grand slam with one out to give Frisco a 5-1 lead, which held for the remainder of the game.

Infielder, Mauricio Ramos, recorded his second three-hit game of the season going 3-for-4, while Evans finished 2-for-4 on the night. Gallagher had the other hit for the Naturals' total of six.

Reliever, Eric Stout and Estarlin Cordero combined to keep the RoughRiders off the board from the sixth inning on with left-hander, Stout, working 2.1 shutout frames, followed by a scoreless ninth hurled by the southpaw, Cordero.

The Naturals look to put the Frisco series behind them and end the six-game road trip on a high note as they head to Midland, Texas for a three-game series against the Midland RockHounds (Oakland A's.) Left-hander, Eric Skoglund (0-0, 3.86) takes the ball for the Naturals in game one against right-hander, Dylan Covey (0-0, 4.50) going for the RockHounds.

First pitch from Security Bank Ballpark is slated for 2:00 p.m. with Voice of the Naturals, Benjamin Kelly, opening up the airwaves with a 1:45 Indigo Sky Casino Pregame Show leading up to first pitch.
