Naturals Fall in Series Opener at Frisco
April 12, 2015 - Texas League (TL1)
Northwest Arkansas Naturals News Release
FRISCO, Texas - Frisco plated seven runs in the first two innings while Northwest Arkansas utilized the long ball to produce offense in a 7-2 loss at Dr. Pepper Ballpark on Sunday afternoon. First baseman Balbino Fuenmayor hit his first career home run for the Naturals in the second inning while designated hitter Mike Bianucci blasted his Texas League leading third big fly in the fifth.
Northwest Arkansas (1-3) sent left-handed prospect Brandon Finnegan (0-1) to the mound for his first Double-A start. The Fort Worth, Texas native surrendered seven runs - three earned - as two costly errors generated four runs for the hometown RoughRiders (1-3) in the second frame. Finnegan finished after three innings, striking out three in the outing.
Right-hander Andy Ferguson followed the starter in the fourth frame and worked four scoreless innings in relief. The 2014 Naturals Pitcher of the Year fanned six batters, scattered just two hits and walked one man in his first appearance in 2015. Right-hander Ali Williams worked a scoreless eighth inning in the loss.
Outfielder Lane Adams smacked his first double of the season in the first frame off Frisco starter Jerad Eickhoff (1-0, 3.60) and Hunter Dozier finished with a single in four at-bats.
The Naturals look to another key hurler from 2014 in game two of the series in Frisco on Monday as right-hander J.C. Sulbaran makes his first start of the season against left-hander Victor Payano for the RoughRiders. This will be Payano's Double-A debut.
