Naturals Drop Finale 4-3 on Sunday

The Northwest Arkansas Naturals (15-18) lost a hotly contested series finale on Sunday to the Arkansas Travelers (22-11), 4-3 while getting swept in the six-game series with Arkansas. Monday is a league-wide off day before the Naturals being a six-game series at Arvest Ballpark with the Springfield Cardinals on Tuesday with an 11:05 AM CT first pitch.

NWA scored the game's first runs in the opening frame with John Rave knocking in Tyler Tolbert to make it a one-run game. Later in the inning, Jorge Bonifacio lifted a sacrifice fly to left, plating Morgan McCullough to extend the lead to 2-0.

The Travelers scored in the second and plated two in the bottom of the third to take the lead, but NWA evened the game up in the fifth. Luca Tresh singled to center, scoring McCullough from second base to make it a 3-3 game.

The two teams traded scoreless innings until the bottom of the ninth when Jonatan Clase singled with the bases loaded, bringing home the game-winning run while cementing the first sweep the Naturals have endured since June of last year.

The Naturals head back to Springdale to begin a six-game series with the Springfield Cardinals on Tuesday. The first game of the series will begin with an 11:05 AM CT first pitch on Education Day.
