
Nathan Oystrick Recalled by St. Louis

St. Louis Blues Executive Vice President and General Manager Doug Armstrong announced today that defenseman Carlo Colaiacovo has been placed on injured reserve due to a concussion. Colaiacovo suffered the injury in the Blues' 3-0 win over Nashville on Oct. 28. In addition, the club has recalled defenseman Nathan Oystrick (Ol-strihk) from the Blues' American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the Peoria Rivermen.
Oystrick, 27, made his Blues debut on Oct. 30 vs. Atlanta and registered an assist in the Blues' 4-3 shootout win. He has played in 10 games with the Rivermen this season, recording seven points (three goals, four assists) to go along with 16 penalty minutes. Oystrick spent the majority of the 2009-10 season with the Atlanta Thrashers' AHL affiliate Chicago Wolves, collecting 23 points (seven goals, 16 assists) to go along with 96 penalty minutes. In his NHL career, the 6-0, 210-pound defenseman has played in 57 NHL games, earning 13 points (four goals, nine assists) and 52 penalty minutes. The Regina, Saskatchewan native was signed by the Blues as a free agent on July 12, 2010 and was originally drafted by Atlanta in the seventh round, 198th overall in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft.
Colaiacovo, 27, played in eight games with the Blues this season, recording five points (one goal, four assists). Last season, he played in a career-high 67 games and finished second among Blues defenseman with a career-high 32 points (seven goals, 25 assists). The 6-1, 205-pound defenseman is currently in his eighth NHL season, skating in 249 games, registering 99 points (23 goals, 76 assists) along with 146 penalty minutes. Colaiacovo was acquired by the Blues along with Alex Steen from Toronto in exchange for Lee Stempniak on Nov. 24, 2008 and was originally drafted by Toronto in the first round, 17th overall in the 2001 Entry Draft.
