
Wild Recalls Kassian, Sends Gillies to Aeros

HOUSTON --- The American Hockey League's (AHL) Houston Aeros, affiliate of the NHL's Minnesota Wild, today announced that Wild General Manager Chuck Fletcher has recalled left wing Matt Kassian from the Aeros to Minnesota and has reassigned left wing Colton Gillies to the Aeros from Minnesota.
Kassian, 24 (10/28/86), was originally assigned to Houston on Oct. 9 and has registered one assist and 28 penalty minutes (PIM) in nine games with the Aeros this season. He recorded six points (2-4-6) in 59 games with the Aeros in 2009-10 and led the club with 149 PIM. The 6-foot-5, 252-pound native of Edmonton, Alberta, was originally selected by Minnesota in the second round (57th overall) of the 2005 NHL Entry Draft. He wears sweater #28 with the Wild.
Gillies, 21 (2/12/89), was recalled by Minnesota on Oct. 19 and played three games with the Wild, averaging 6:08 time on ice (TOI). Gillies posted two points (1-1-2) in four games for the Aeros this season, after recording 20 points (7-13-20) and 73 penalty minutes (PIM) in 72 games for Houston in 2009-10. The 6-foot-4, 208-pound native of White Rock, B.C., spent the 2008-09 season in Minnesota, notching seven points (2-5-7) in 45 games. He scored his first NHL goal, a game-winner, against the New York Islanders on Dec. 19, 2008. Gillies was Minnesota's first-round selection (No. 16 overall) in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft.
The Aeros (4-5-1-0, 9 points) host the Toronto Marlies Friday for a 7:35 p.m. game at Toyota Center.
The Aeros are reaching out to the Houston community to "sponsor a soldier" for this Friday's game. Companies or individuals who sponsor tickets, which are only $10 each, will be recognized on the Toyota Center video boards during the game, receive recognition on AEROS.COM, and have the opportunity to meet with the soldiers and their families at the game to say, "thank you," for their service.

Game night festivities feature special presentations to active duty personnel, including a number of service members who have recently returned from Iraq. Military veterans will also be recognized throughout the game. Over 500 military themed t-shirts will be tossed out to the crowd.
In addition, the Military Order of the Purple Heart, Texas, will have the Fallen Heroes Memorial Wall on display. The 28-foot long memorial lists the names and pictures of Texans who have made the ultimate sacrifice since the Gulf War.
Sponsor 10 tickets and receive an Aeros Autographed Puck. Sponsor 20 tickets and receive an Aeros Autographed Photo and Puck. Sponsor at least 50 seats and receive an Aeros autographed jersey plus an equal number of tickets for your own use at an upcoming Aeros game.
