In Charlotte, rookies Luke Adam and Corey Tropp notched shootout goals as Portland collected its fourth straight win, a 4-3 decision over the Checkers... LOOKING AHEAD:
Hartford tries to stop the bleeding from a six-game losing skid (0-4-2-0) on Wednesday when it hosts Manchester at the XL Center for the division rivals' first meeting of 2010-11... The Wolf Pack, who are averaging a league-low 1.82 goals per game through 11 contests, are 0-4-2-0 on home ice since capturing a 4-2 win over Charlotte in their season opener on Oct. 9... Hartford has not scored more than two goals in any game since its last victory, a 3-0 triumph in Providence on Oct. 17... Kris Newbury shows a team-high nine points (1-8-9) in the early going, and newcomer Jeremy Williams leads the Wolf Pack with four goals and ranks second with eight points... The 5-3-1-1 Monarchs are coming off a 7-3 setback in Hershey on Sunday, their most lopsided defeat of the young season... David Meckler (6-3-9) and rookie Brandon Kozun (5-4-9) are tied for the club lead with nine points apiece through 10 games; Kozun has a point in five of his last six outings (3-3-6)... Second-year pro Corey Elkins shows a point in four of his last five contests (2-3-5) for the Monarchs... Manchester finished 5-1-2-0 against Hartford in 2009-10.
Division rivals Rockford and Milwaukee collide for the first time this season on Wednesday at the Bradley Center... Both the IceHogs (4-4-0-1) and Admirals (4-3-1-1) have secured four victories through their first nine games this year, and Milwaukee has recorded a point in each of its first three home contests (2-0-1-0)... Second-year Rockford defenseman Brian Connelly leads the team with nine points - all assists - and has picked up a point in seven of his first nine games to begin the season... Rookie Brandon Pirri has recorded a goal in his last two games (2-0-2), and fellow rookie Nick Leddy shows three points (1-2-3) in his last two games after the defenseman went scoreless in his first two AHL contests... Former AHL All-Star Ryan Potulny, back from an NHL recall to Chicago, has recorded six points (2-4-6) through his first eight games in an IceHogs uniform... The Admirals are coming off a split of two games in Abbotsford last weekend; four of Milwaukee's first nine games overall came against the Heat... First-year North American pro Linus Klasen is tied for the AHL lead with seven goals (7-3-10) in seven games for Milwaukee... The Admirals' top three scorers - Klasen, Andreas Thuresson (3-5-8), and newcomer Matt Halischuk (4-2-6) - are responsible for 14 of the club's 26 total goals thus far.
Toronto looks to turn its fortunes around as it opens a 10-game road swing on Wednesday in San Antonio, the beginning of a four-games-in-five-nights stretch that will also take the Marlies to Houston, Texas, and Oklahoma City... Toronto has lost three straight and six of its first eight games (2-6-0-0) to begin the campaign, combining for 10 goals in the two victories but just 10 in the six defeats... Rookies Nazem Kadri (4-4-8) and Brayden Irwin (2-4-6) are out to fast starts and pace the Marlies in scoring, but the duo has combined for just one assist during Toronto's current three-game slide... The Rampage, who have played just once in the last nine days, bring a six-game winning streak into this tilt and are tied with Oklahoma City for first place in the West Division... Rampage forwards Mathieu Beaudoin (8 straight, 4-5-9), Alexandre Picard (7 straight, 6-3-9), and Viktor Tikhonov (7 straight, 2-6-8) all boast lengthy scoring streaks... Rampage defenseman Garrett Stafford is tied for the AHL defensemen scoring lead with 10 points (2-8-10) through nine contests... San Antonio is 11-4-0-2 in 17 all-time regular-season meetings with Toronto and won both meetings in 2009-10.
