Get Low: Nashville's lowest ERA in a single month since 2005 came in April 2006 when the pitching staff posted a 2.79 mark. Currently Nashville boasts a PCL-best 2.46 ERA.
Get Through the First: Today's starter Frankie Montas has allowed six runs in his three starts this season. All six of the runs have come in the first inning including four in his season debut in which Montas failed to get out of the first frame. His first inning ERA is 16.87 (2.2 IP/5 ER). Six of the eight hits he has surrendered and three of his four walks have all come in the first inning as well.
Save The 'Pen: While the Sounds would like Montas to eat up some innings today, they may have to rely heavily on their bullpen once again. The last time Montas pitched more than 4.0 innings in a game was August 21, 2015 when he lasted 5.0 innings with Double-A Birmingham. He has appeared in 50 games and made 17 starts since then.
Forget Being PC, Be More Offensive: The Sounds bats have had a hard time producing runs at times in the early part of 2018. The team scored three or fewer runs for the 11th time in 16 games last night and are 13th in the PCL in runs scored with 60. Nashville is 3-8 when failing to score four runs in a game.
Boss Man Boyd: BJ Boyd went 1-for-4 last night to extend his on-base streak to a team-high 11-games. Since the streak began April 9 he is batting .366 (15-for-41) with 6 runs, 2 doubles, 1 home run, 11 RBI, and drawn 5 walks. Boyd's 11-game streak is tied for the 7th longest active streak in the PCL. The seven-game hitting streak he is currently on is also tied for the 7th longest active streak in the PCL.
