Manchester Monarchs News Release
MANCHESTER, NH â The Manchester Monarchs, the AHL affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings, have signed left wing Jeff Giuliano to a one-year AHL contract, Monarchs Director of Hockey Operations Hubie McDonough announced today. Per club policy, terms of the agreement were not announced.
Giuliano, 24, skated in 47 games this past season with the Monarchs recording 15 points (4-11=15) and eight penalty minutes. The 5-foot-9, 190-pound native of Nashua, New Hampshire also appeared in three playoff games for the Monarchs recording one point (a goal) and zero penalty minutes. Giuliano made his AHL debut with the Monarchs on November 8, 2002, going scoreless on one shot against the Worcester IceCats. He collected his first AHL goal on November 9, 2002, versus the Albany River Rats.
Giuliano began his rookie season in the East Coast Hockey League with the Reading Royals, an affiliate of the Monarchs and the Kings. He had 30 points (7-23=30) and six penalty minutes in 38 games. The Monarchs recalled Giuliano four times this past season with his last call-up taking place on January 31, 2003. The former Boston College Eagle appeared in the Monarchs last 36 regular season games.
Giuliano collected 24 assists during his senior season at Boston College (2001-02) and finished third on the team in scoring with 35 points (11-24=35) in 38 games. Twenty-four of his points (7-17=24) were scored in 24 Hockey East games. The durable Giuliano averaged nearly 42 games a season during a four-year collegiate career that included three trips to the Frozen Four and two trips to the NCAA Men's Ice Hockey Championship Game. Boston College captured the 2001 NCAA Men's Ice Hockey Championship, the school's first title of any kind in 52 years, by beating the University of North Dakota 3-2 in overtime. North Dakota beat Boston College 4-2 in the 2000 NCAA Men's Ice Hockey Championship and the University of Maine edged Boston College 2-1 in a 1999 NCAA National Semi-Final game.
The Monarchs open their third AHL season at home against the Worcester IceCats on Friday, October 10 at 7:35 p.m. They will also host the Lowell Lock Monsters on Saturday, October 11 at 7:35 p.m. and the Portland Pirates on Wednesday, October 15 at 7:05 p.m. Currently, the only way to secure a seat for the 2003-04 Home Opener is to purchase a Monarchs full, half or ten-game season ticket package. For season ticket information, visit the Monarchs on-line or call (603) 626-7825. Individual tickets for all Monarchs home games will go on sale to the public in late September.
